The contents of my installed /etc/cups/ppd/Samsung-ML-2510.ppd file (renamed from 2010 to 2510 in the installation) follows. ppd files…or maybe not I spent many hours discovering this solution and I’m burned-out on debug! ppd files and figure out what is wrong with the new. Maybe I’ll do a diff of it with the broken. I’m not sure where to report this bug, but the contents of the old working. ppd to work because it needs a supplied binary filter called rastertosamsungspl, which again is not available for ppc.įinally I mounted my archived entire disk drive image of 12.04 LTS, extracted the old Samsung-ML-2010-gdi.ppd file from it, and installed it (Samsung ML-2010 Foomatic/gdi) using the “Printer > Properties” >“Make and Model” from the Ubuntu “System” > “Hardware” > “Printers” GUI. SpliX drivers don’t appear to support ppc and I tried hacking the HP Linux drivers to run on ppc, but I could not the HP ML-2510. ppd files failed me and the printer still produced only blank pages–even when attempting to print from the lp command!

I tried installing and downloading current versions of both the ML-2510 and ML-2010. conf files, but apparently none of the old disabling methods applied to Ubuntu Mate’s 2.1.3-4ubuntu0.3 CUPS package. This seems to be a relatively common problem with CUPS and foomatic, in general, and I tried all the reported solutions that I could find online, including trying to disable ps_accounting in foomatic. After the fresh install, my printer would no longer print from my Mac Mini. My ML-2510 problems began when I brought my old Mac Mini G4 ppc out of mothballs and replaced Ubuntu 12.04 LTS with Ubuntu Mate 16-04 LTS. ppd in various Debian-based GNU/Linux distros (most recently MX-Linux) right up until now. I’ve had good luck with the CUPS packaged ML-2510. ppd files became available from CUPS and also in the Intel/AMD-64 UnifiedLinuxDriver supplied by HP (the new Samsung printer line owner). I network the printer using a D-Link DP-301P+ 10/100 printer server too. ppd file and continued to use it up through Ubuntu 12.04 and various revisions of OS-X and other GNU/Linux distros (in both PowerPC and Intel386 /AMD64 architectures).

ppd file support for the ML-2510 existed in the CUPS package back then. I’ve been running this printer since Ubuntu 10.04 LTS days and no.
